Welcome to Thirsk at Christmas - 2012!

Friday 30th November to Sunday 2nd December 2012 so put it in your diary now!

Get set for Christmas 2012 !  A magical weekend market and fun filled time in the picturesque cobbled market place of Thirsk here at the foot of the delightful North Yorkshire moors and Yorkshire Dales.

What a wonderful weekend last years Fayre and Market was.  Thousands of visitors, smiling faces and even reindeer wandering through the town. This year will be no exception and plans are well under way for another magic weekend.  Whether your a resident, live in the geography, a summer tourist who comes to Thirsk often or just looking for a good day out put Thirsk in your diary!

The Big Switch On -2012 date released!

Last year saw around 2,000 people fill the Market Place when Thirsks new lights illuminated our Town to mark the start of Christmas.  This year we would love you all to help us beat it!    Times are yet to be agreed so for the meantime keep FRIDAY 30th NOVEMBER free in your diary!     We will hopefully have the Schools Lantern parade again too so come down and join in the fun.

Whats on 2012

Following input from residents and the success of last year we are focusing a little more on the market this year.  Although still in the planning stages we anticipate having food stalls in the Town Hall, an outdoor continental market and the craft fayre in the Golden Fleece on the Sunday.  We hope more shops will join in this year and put on extra incentives and promotions too!

Crafts at the Fleece.

Not to be missed on Sunday the 2nd December 2012 is the indoor craft/product fair in the Golden Fleece Hotel on the market place. Savour delightful local products in a friendly warm environment.

Calling Regional Food Traders

Last year we focused on a Yorkshire Food Hall with local producers from Yorkshire selling their produce from Chilli Jam to Dexter Beef! Some of the traders who attended last year will be in attendance this year but with more room in the Town Hall in the centre of town we can take more.  Please contact This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
